    Removing a V8 for a 200tdi. Help please!

It's funny because I was looking inside my engine bay in the cold light of day comparing my engine mount positions to one where another person showed me a pic of his empty engineless engine bay, (who is doing the conversion the conventional way taking out a TD engine, and putting in a 200tdi)...

    Removing a V8 for a 200tdi. Help please!

Thanks for that link. Yes, some of the tools on the ebay one are not suitable for the 200tdi. The ones in your link may be expensive, but they look, and sound good quality. And you have all the tools you need to not only replace the belt, but do the seals too. A kit like that is quite hard to...

    Removing a V8 for a 200tdi. Help please!

Was just wondering what engine you have? Is it the 200, or 300tdi? reason I'm asking is although the timing pins fit both engines, he cant be sure if the other tools you mentioned (that I'd like too) will fit the 200tdi, as they are designed for the 300tdi. If not, I'll certainly have the timing...

    Removing a V8 for a 200tdi. Help please!

I hear what your saying, and it's ashame I've got to take out the v8, as it runs really lovely only covering 20,000 on a rebuild by the previous owner, (I cant prove the rebuild though) plus I've very recently had a full service done on itby a good trustworthy garage i've used for years, (cost...

    Removing a V8 for a 200tdi. Help please!

I shortly plan to do a 200tdi transplant. I've never taken an engine out before, and my mechanical knowledge is ltd. Also Its not as straighforward as most, as I'm replacing a 3.5 SD1 V8. so the wiring for a start is not going to be like the advice given for changing from a td engine. Can...

    clutch fitting.

I'm about to do a 200tdi engine transplant, and want to change the clutch on the 200tdi before I put it into the vehicle. I was told that if you are leaving on the old clutch plate, then mark it so you put it back the same way you took it off, so the flywheel will still have it's original...

I've Just found out from 'steve parker' the bits I'm going to need to do the job i.e. extended PAS pipes, exhaust adaption, rad pipes, etc etc, is going to come to quite a bit, then I'll have to buy an engine crane. And as I said I'm not sure if I'll have to move the engine mounts or not. Now my...

    Engine mount pics?

Ok thanks, Think I just need the confidence to give it a go, (I have a 26ft by 11ft garage to work in) and think you've given me that. Just wish I knew if my chassis mounts were in the right place. I could do without the hassle of cutting them off, and re-welding them on again.:( Also, a daft...

    Engine mount pics?

The chassis brackets on the chassis look the same shape as What I've got on my chassis still. Not entirely sure though. unless they have been cut off and welded on again further along the chassis or something? Also, If you did it yourself, was it a straight forward job to do? anything I need to...

    Engine mount pics?

As per title, I have a 87 90 defender that once had a N/A diesel in it, but someone took this out and put in a Rover SD1 V8 3.5 engine. Now all I've been able to work out for sure is it does have the rover SD1 engine mounts mouted to the brackets on my chassis. So what I want to know is (as I...

    Running Hot

Thanks jailon. I'll deff change the rad then and see if that improves things. Might help me to get a few more MPG too. Well I can hope  I can't understand why people use that rad weld stuff, it cloggs up everything. For the sake of £173,00 delivered, I can get a new rad, and not have to...

    Running Hot

I have an 87 SWB 90 with a rover sd1 3.5 V8 engine in it. The engine has had a recent full service, and is only supposed to have done 20,000. (I haven't had it on the road long since purchase due to me restoring the bodywork) 2 garages have done work on my vehicle, and both said how well the...

    LPGing a V8?

You've obviously sold a few vehicles on ebay. What could I expect to get for my landy do you think? I know you can only give a ball park figure, but the V8 is good, runs very sweet, I've just restored the bodywork, all the rust has been cut out, (not that it had that much in there in the first...

    LPGing a V8?

Yes they do all look the same to me too. The later 'sterlings' even, which I think went on until the 90's were very similar to the early ones. Mind you you could say the same with landrovers I guess. :D Don't think I've got a friday afternoon engine though, even though laylands quality control...
