Copper washer for coolant drain plug on engine block - which way round?

Does anyone know which way round the copper washer for the coolant drain plug on the engine block goes? As per usual, the Haynes manual doesn't specify. I can provide a pic if need be. Thanks

    Brown Bits!!

I've used the blue (not the pink) stuff from Halfrauds, which says on small print on the label that it's suitable for ally engines. I hope they're right because my 200Tdi had done 140,000 miles and it would be a shame to ruin it at this stage!

    Serviced the landy

I've got three drips coming from the LT77 box, which I'm about to give to a local mechanic to try and repair. Will keep you updated.

Is puff of black smoke a problem?

Thanks Lads, you've allayed my fears. Now I just need to find out if oil dripping from the transfer box can be cured without removing the whole thing.

Is puff of black smoke a problem?

Told my local mechanic recently that my 110 200Tdi (1992) tends to push out some black smoke from the exhaust when accelerating after changing gear or going uphill. He said that this is just normal Landy behaviour, but I wanted to be sure. Does anyone else experience this with their Landy of a...

200Tdi - coolant drain plug washer

About to tackle a complete drain and flush of the coolant system on my 200Tdi, but am a little worried about something. Does anyone know if the drain plug (on the right hand side of the engine) has a washer or not? If so, does anyone have the part number handy? Thanks and apologies for the...

    Get your pics out!!!

In the process of transforming the back of my old 110 to a utility/camper, and am about to start of the storage drawers above the arches. Many different ways of approaching this, but am keen to see other owners attempts. As they say, a pic is worth a thousand words, so if anyone has some pics...

Shocking price, but nice idea. A rear boot strut from a scrappie might do the job.

How to prevent rear door from swing shut?

Ha. I did try that with a piece of wood, but when I climb in there's a lot of pressure put onto the door from underneath.

How to prevent rear door from swing shut?

The safari door on my 110 is now refurbished (lock barrel replaced, window refitted and sealed to prevent leaks, wiper and washer fault diagnosed and repaired, striker adjusted, metal treated, etc) but the door keeps swinging shut in the wind or the Landy is tilting the wrong way, which is made...

Stupid question: what should I top up the coolant with?

Just to confirm: Looking at the radiator from the front, I have 4 pipes connected running down the left hand side of the rad. From top to bottom: 1. Small diameter rubber pipe (secured using jubilee clip) 2. Metal pipe 3. Metal pipe 4. Large diameter rubber pipe (secured using jubilee clip)...

Stupid question: what should I top up the coolant with?

When it says to remove air gaps in the system by activating the heater, do they mean to have the engine running with the heater knob on hot and the heater turned on, or just the heater knob on hot and the heater turned off? Reason I ask is because I've just watched a YouTube vid where the...

Leave the dissolved Calgon in the system or flush it out, do you reckon?

Stupid question: what should I top up the coolant with?

Regarding the calgon tablet: would you recommend I add it whilst flushing, or add it after everything is connected up and sealed? Not being a calgon expert I'm worried that leaving a tablet in there might be detrimental to the system over time?

Stupid question: what should I top up the coolant with?

Right you are and thanks for the useful tips. My lower radiator pipe has a leak around the fitting and I was wondering what type of sealant I should use to fill the gap?

Stupid question: what should I top up the coolant with?

Hi Station, I've read a few posts on how to drain the coolant and flush the system, but am unclear on a few points. Here's how I think it needs to be done based on research of other posts. This is for my 200Tdi, 1992, by the way: 1) Locate the coolant drain plug on the right hand side of the...
