Just thought I'd do a quick fluid check as its been sorn for three months
Coolants got shiny bits in and brown in colour - Is that just a lack of antifreeze?????

Just sounds like you have oat coolant in it, still worth a flush tho, I have oat in mine and it gives a shimmer, although its pink not brown

Ps make sure you put organic back in

Thanks but what is OAT. It sounds like something to do with Quaker.

Seriously though - What is it??

The water could have been pink as it was really bright sunshine?

I've used the blue (not the pink) stuff from Halfrauds, which says on small print on the label that it's suitable for ally engines. I hope they're right because my 200Tdi had done 140,000 miles and it would be a shame to ruin it at this stage!

The block will be steel. Dont think any diesels are ally as they are around 3-4 times the compression of a petrol engine.

Something like a 200 you cant really put in the wrong antifreeze, any will do, its an old and basic system, as long as it protects against freezing, rust and scale then its all good.

As for the OP's question, has it ever had a stop leak/k-seal added? This has lots of shiney bits in it, it wont d any harm if it is but for the sake of it i would flush it...

Hi, to be honest I don't know if it has ever had a leak. I only bought it last year and so far done a list as long as my arm to get it going and road legal. Including gearbox, clutch, Rear crossmember, Both bulkhead outriggers, steering box. lower u/J drop arm ball joint and all tre's.
Thats not all of it !!

If I flush it and it has had a leak would it disrupt that?
Last thing I want is a mojor leak on my hands :eek::eek:
