Steve Parker downpipe - 200tdi conversion

The downpipe will be at full operating temperature of 500+C within 30 seconds. The rest of the exhaust takes longer to warm up which is why short journeys rot them quickly.

Steve Parker downpipe - 200tdi conversion

The downpipe is going to get very hot so anything near it is going to suffer or catch light. I wrapped mine with exhaust wrap which helps a lot and I also put a heat sheild made from a a plate or aluminium between it and the starter motor and foot well.

    Loss of power

Lack of fuel to the engine. Either the fuel pump is not pumping enough fuel or there is a blockage in the line and filters. Replace/clean the filter and sedimentor first as these don't get replaced often enough and will give no engine fault codes.

    Scrap engines to give away

I currently have 3 scrap Landy engines (2 x 2.25 + 1 x 2.5TD) sat around, along with a gearbox and diff and other large heavy bits of metal. Is there anyone in the Farnborough (Hampshire) region who wants it to weigh it in? The caveat is you have to collect it and lift it and do all the heavy...

    200tdi disco starter motor problems

First, does the voltage drop when you try to start it? Does the internal light dim? If not then the starter solenoid is probably not engaging. Undo and clean up all the Live and Ground points and try again. If it still fails then it is time to remove the starter motor.

    200tdi disco starter motor problems

Get someone to turn the engine over while you clout the starter with a long pole. If it fires up then take out the starter and clean everything up. The solenoid is part of the starter casing, so the whole thing has to come out as one unit.

    Veg oil - again

I ran my 19j on WVO and SVO in a 50/50 mix with DERV for about 2 years, 10,000 miles before the turbo self destructed into the engine. So yes it can be done as long as the fuel is fluid enough.

Selling my Landy abroad- Bad idea?

I am trying to sell my 90 and was phoned last night by Shaun, from the Canary Islands. He wants to fly over and buy it. Apart from the obvious of being a timewaster, what should I watch out for? I will not be letting the 90 go until I have the money in my bank account but how do I fill out the...

    Braking Cause rapid Indicators

    bad vibration since tdi conversion

My 200 upgrade caused two rattles. The exhaust as just clipping the gearbox cross member and the bonnet was shaking around just hitting the air filter. easily fixed but too a while to trace them as it happened at very specific revs at idle.

Defender 110 Rear Light Wiring Madness!*

As above, check the earth in each bulb holder. Also check that the bulbs are in correctly. It is possible to put the dual filament bulbs into the worn holders incorrectly causing the lights to work incorrectly.
