    UJ's galore...

Well... the props on my "spare" landy (currently getting less of a landy as i strip it for parts!) look to be original/// so i think my best course of action would be to have them off, get some nice new UJs, and wait for the current ones fitted to my everyday landy to go (might as well get my...

    UJ's galore...

and just to complete the set... here's a post suggesting that the front prop should also be totally IN phase! http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f7/front-prop-shaft-phasing-23057.html and if anybody says "go to a specialist".....!!!

    UJ's galore...

Hi all, thanks for your advice... been looking into the phasing and getting conflicting opinions... most folks seem to agree the back prop should be IN phase, i.e. the yokes are in line with eachother. as for the front prop... some say 45degrees, some say 30 degrees (mine looks to be about...

    UJ's galore...

Hi all... I'm currently in UJ hell... i dont know how many times i've had my props off in the last few months... i suppose it's not a bad idea to replace them all at the same time! Anyway... rear lower trailing arm seized bolt

aha... the destructive appraoch... i like it! i guess this is my only other option really unless it loosens up overnight. just hope i dont destroy the bracket in the process. i really wish the tester hadnt noticed the bent arm in the first place and i'd have left it alone.. doesnt seem to make...

rear lower trailing arm seized bolt

ok... removed brake disc/bearing, etc to gain access (maybe your bolts were the other way around which would have helped!)... and all i've achieved is that i'm gradually bending the bracket on the axle! now have it soaking in diesel overnight in the vain hope that this might loosen things up a...

rear lower trailing arm seized bolt

nice thinking but i've tried that... its gonna take more than a tweak to seperate the bolt from the sleeve! in fact.. its not gonna happen!

rear lower trailing arm seized bolt

Hi there, just been for MOT (known as DOE over here) for my 90 defender. i have a bent rear trailing arm from an argument with a ditch a couple of years ago and this time around the good folks at the testing centre have decided this just will not do and so i need to replace it. i have a good...

I dont want water in my engine! safari snorkel - 200tdi defender

Hello! Calling all fans of deep wading.... i need some advice about snorkels and sealing up the air intake system so i can don my flippers and do a bit of fish-spotting... I have a defender 90 200tdi (its an '84 but to all intents and purposes is best considered a '94) which has had a safari...

atf or mtf gearbox oil? lt77

Howdie! i have a 200tdi onto an lt77 gearbox and am a little confused about which oil to use... the haynes has "Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF)" printed in it and then somebody's crossed out the (ATF) but and put MTF instead... this is in a brand new manual sealed in plastic so it was...

Hi all, The middle section on my defender 90 200tdi has gone to rust heaven! Am considering replacing it with a stainless mid section and a few questions have sprung to mind... 1. What effect do the "sport utility" stainless systems have on turbo functioning and general on-road performance -...

The engine is out of the vehicle (well actually hanging above it on a hoist) and the ladder frame has been removed - dont i wish i had a 300tdi?! i will try moving the crankpin to TDC - maybe the conrod didnt fit through because it was at the wrong angle. have already had the piston sticking up...

removing conrod and piston - 200tdi

Silly question for the day.... i'm trying to get my pistons out . the haynes says once the bottom half of the bigend has been removed and the top half lifted off the crankpin, you can push the conrod and piston up and out through the bore - well i know this may sound stupid but the big end...

    Water in engine!!! 200tdi

sorry, this is uncharted territory for me, have had a local mechanic look at it and he's set me straight on a few areas... well luckily i'm a fast learner, so am now VERY aware of the difference between a push-rod and a connecting rod... one's easy-peasy to take out, and other's an absolute bugger!
