Welcome! Generally the original Land Rover springs are the most compliant. If your 110 does not have the load leveler on the rear, you could switch to the springs used with the load leveler, they are softer than the ones use din trucks without the load leveler.

Use a gasket, and it's worth it to buy some proper sealant like Hylomar. Silisnot is not reliable in contact with oil. Save it for caulking the bath.

:p LOL, but... as an alternative to a P38 that's pretty solid advice. I had a RRC before my 110, and as much as I love the 110, the RRC was much nicer to live with as a daily driver.

The lever assembly is held by two machine screws. The lever is easy to install, the bowden cable is bit fiddly.

Hi Dave, I'm a Yank too, but living in the UK. I have a 1984 (A reg!) 110, with the 300TDi, R380 5 speed and a lot of other kit from later model years. I believe in the lingua franca it would be described as a "Bitsa" -- bitsa this, bitsa that... I bought an early truck with specific purpose...

He should try to source an aluminum LSx GM V8. More power and much lighter than the cast iron small block.

Today I fixed my xfer box linkage so it will shift into low. Linkage had snapped on the box end, and the lever was seized in the housing on the box. I don''t think the PO used low range much, if ever.
