    TD5 misfiring

My 2000 TD5 has developed a slight misfire above 2750 revs with some black smoke. Upto that point pulls well. Recently replaced fuel pump, filter and regulator and bypassed the EGR valve so I am a bit stuck for ideas. Any suggestions as to what may be causing this ? Thanks

Discovery TD5 misfire / loss of power

Your ECU may have oil in it - had a similar issue many months ago returning from Scotland, ran OK for a bit then played up, had to replace loom and ECU but OK after that.

What mileage is your Disco 2 on?

215,000 in my 2000 TD5 manual, had it from 60,000. Original engine but like me all the ancillary bits have seen better days! Replaced the following: 1 radiator 1 ECU 1 engine wiring loom 1 expansion bottle 1 front hub 1 front ABS sensor 1 clutch 1 set of glow plugs 1 fuel pump 1 fuel pressure...

    TD5 Braking puzzle

Mucking around with the EGR vacuum pipes I disconnected all 3 attached to the EGR valve and took the disco for a run. There was no noticable change in braking performance even though one of the pipes is connected to a 'T' piece linked to the servo. Should this be the case or am I missing something ?

Thanks for all the feedback - will try the air bleed valve first (easiest?) and post back but it could be a while. Interestingly I only seem to have the problem if the tank is less than half full. Regards

    TD5 Fuel Pressure problem

Thanks for the replies - will try the non return valve first. Are the injector seals something a home mechanic can do, looks like some special tools are required according to 'Rave' ? Regards

    TD5 Fuel Pressure problem

Hi - currently have to wait for the air to be purged from the fuel system every morning and if the car is left standing for any longer than about and hour. Have replaced the pump, filter (only one O ring in the middle) and the regulator. The car sits on a clean surface and there are no signs of...

    D2 ABS sensor

Following a hub failure I have tried to replace the ABS sensor on my 2000 TD5 Discovery. The second hand sensor did not have any connector on the end so I have used bullet connectors to link it to the original wiring. I still get an error when put on diagnostics saying " Front LH sensor -...

At the risk of sounding repetitive - 3 amigos

Anyone close to Mid Suffolk where I could hook up my D2 to a diagnostic tool in exchange for a few cans of Suffolks best bitter ? Lights came on, hub failed, hub replaced (second hand but OK) using original knackered sensor (!) at local garage, sensor replaced with second hand one (by me) with...

Three amigos on = four wheel drive - off?

No driver operated CDL available on standard D2's unless specifically requested from dealer or fitted as an aftermarket job. Normally controlled by ETC so if this has failed you will have no ABS, ETC or HDC, as I have at present due to a failed sensor ! Check page 41-10 of Rave. Chris

Anyone know why my side marker lights have failed, fuse and bulbs both checked and OK ? Wiring is difficult to follow so maybe someone else has had this problem and solved it. Thanks
