Oil in the turbo..and out the exaust

Cap it or replace it. Had this go on me before and although you get a very impressive smoke cloud and glowing red exhaust with all your engine oil going there its a lot of work t fix. This is my worry too as they are expensive to replace but also a good excuse to buy a VVT turbo

    Oil pump for transfer box

I bought a weed sprayer for £10! It takes a bit of pumping to build up pressure and cut the spray bit off but it works a treat used it for diffs too!

    Crossmember

Sounds good! Well got the xmember in but need to get the end caps for the cross member thought they came with it when it said complete! First tip after completing a fairly big job like the rear crossmember STOP put the tools away and pat yourself on the back with a cold beer. Dont go poking...

    Crossmember

Hi DiscoPol yes it looks great. As you said maybe something a bit wider would give more for the mounts to weld onto but its the clearance for the chassis that is the probem as the standard one has an angled bit to accommodate this. I do like the idea of the Heavy Duty that will last ill use the...

    Crossmember

Cheers guys just been drilling out the spot wells. I think removing the tank will be fun as the fittings to the tank are rusted solid and about to snap so I gave up for tonight to have a beer! Yeah I saw the home made cross member fancy that for my project rebuild

    The rebuild - Doh!

Well got the body off the old V8 and started stripping the chassis and body hoping to get the chassis galvanised. Anyway on stripping the body to see all what it needs I could do with both front inner arches done. From what iv read to fit them you line them up with the chassis before you weld...

    Crossmember

Ahhhhhr something always happens when I get time to work on my old disco project. Now its my 300tdi rear crossmember shot as the mounts just fell off when i removed the bolts! I know and read that you SHOULD remove the rear 1/4 panels but has anyone or know if it can be done without removing them?

    Galvanising

Hi, I just got a price for getting my D1 chassis galvanised at 150 +vat seems ok. But he said if I have other things to get galvanised at teh same time it will bring the cost down. I may be getting carried away here but now I'm thinking about getting my inner front arches, sills, rear...
