    300tdi Heater Matrix Removal

After a bit of 'vigorous' off roading the other week which resulted in water over the bonnet and down through the heater matrix and into the car , I struggle to get any heat or airflow through the heater when on full hot setting. Reading RAVE it looks like I have blocked the air side of...

    Salisbury axle into Disco

Thanks for the info, I'll get the axle under and see how the original prop looks before I get too carried away. I assume the main problem comes when the suspension is compressed meaning the prop needs to be shorter. The rear end also has extended bump stops to limit the amount of compression...

    Salisbury axle into Disco

So thanks to our learned friend above we know it needs to be shorter, how does that come out to 'tiz easy' Also because its lifted and I've got corrected trailing arms which are +20mm to get the axle back to where it should be, does this need to be taken off the 30mm suggested meaning only...

    Salisbury axle into Disco

Given my ability to constantly find the weakness in rover diffs, I have bit the bullet and got a salisbury axle to chuck in the rear of my Disco. I have searched the forum for other like minded souls and a few others have looked at this option. The one thing that is clear however is that I...

    P38, shims or balljoints

I was very fortunate and found a very nice man who lent me his tooling to do the job :o;) Once I got round to doing it it was fairly straight forward however without a centralising tool you may have problems sooner rather than later. I was amazed at how much adjustment you can get and...

    Can't get out

New cable finally arrived and was fitted last night. Like anything else on a P38 it never quite goes to plan. Whilst groping blindly trying to get the lock out of the door the alarm system chirped a couple of times - no problem I thought as the door was open and I had obviously knocked the...

Another Offer from Black Box Solutions !!! Intrested?

After recent events, I could do with my own sync mate. If yu are co-ordinating a group buy from BBS, does it have to be all identical product? You say that we would order individuallly and it would then be intercepted and put with the group purchase, in which case I think it should be...

    Can't get out

After a coupe of relatively trouble free weeks the Rangie decided to throw a new one at me yesterday. The interior door handle stopped working, so I have to wind the window down, open the door from the outside then put the window back up. I stripped the door last night to find the cable has...

Just when you need it to work

Finally it runs  After plenty of :frusty: and even having LR's 'finest' around with testbook it came down to lost handshake between the ECUs and the need of a Sync Mate. What a fantastic little box. If you ever get the problem where a perfectly 'heathy' motor suddenly decides it wont...

Just when you need it to work

Right the lad from LR has been round with the T4 fault reader thingy, cleared all the fault codes and tried starting it. What a surprise it wont start. It logs 2 alarm/immobiliser faults which means the immobilser needs resetting., something to do with the wrong code. Not sure if these 2...

Just when you need it to work

Firstly thanks for the replies. Yes the check engine is lit when the ignition is turned on. I have tried the EKA twice which has been accepted by the car but still just cranks over. I havent tried the disconnecting the battery option but yes I do have all the necessary codes. J the Range...

Just when you need it to work

Given the possibility it is the BECM with altzheimers problem, does anyone in Somerset/Dorset area have either a synch Mate or diagnostic kit that could check/reset the memory?? Beer vouchers obviously up for grabs

Just when you need it to work

Time to consult the fountain of all knowledge and ask for some help again. The bloody RR decided it weren't going to start last night, just when I need it most as my old man is in hospital and I desperately need a reliable car - I know, why the fook did I buy a p38 if I want reliable :o Any...

P38 DSE after engine change woes

Are you sure something isnt shorting our rather than a bad earth. The desription you gave of connecting a jump lead to the engine and getting lots of sparking sounds more like something is pulling huge current and sucking your main battery right down.

    1998 4.6 P38 Overheating - Losing coolant

A system pressure test will only show system integrity, it will not highlight any blockages or poor flow through the main cores. the fact you are running with the heater on full only assists teh cooling system as you are providing a second radiator to disipate some of the engine temperature...

    1998 4.6 P38 Overheating - Losing coolant

Dont want to be the bearer of bad news but I suspect all is still not well with your Rangie. The fact that you can see a difference on the temp gauge depending on driving conditions / fuel would suggest there is still a problem with the cooloing system. The temp gauge never moves on mine...
