If you want inspiration look at Billy budget rebuild a few threads down and see the rebuild he is doing it covers the holes you describe in the chassis with pics.... If you start tapping around you will find more holes, then another! Price up rear x member and out riggers but if you can do it...

Is the sheared bolt still in? I would certainly try and get it out as that's not helping with your leaks? I believe there is a torque setting you should use plus tighten them in the correct sequence to ensure even pressure on the new gasket. As for any extra sealant..... not sure about that...

In a word..No. If your missus aint happy you are screwed. For 3k you would not get a 110 that would make her happy...... Take her to see a Discovery.... they are half the price of a Defender and you could get a nice one for 3k. I know.... but it a compromise unless you fancy living in a 110? :)

Hi, nice job on your roof insulation:) The B and Q thermal foil you used was it the stuff that has foil on one side? If it was I am just wondering if double sided foil would make any difference re heat or cold coming through the roof? What do you think?

If the spare key works okay I would just get a new key cut off that... all you want it to do is work. Not sure if your key is bog basic or not but have a search on ebay... plenty of blanks for sale. If it needs programming or such plenty of advice if you google.
