1989 110 200tdi (ex 2.5td).
Had a very leaky sump so today was the day to get sorted (along with a few other jobs, Landy fun
).
Sump came off without any drama, but found lots of old sealant.
Started scraping off and found a sheared bolt, under some of it.
Someone previous had tried to stop it leaking by covering in black sealant.
Then turns out I brought the wrong gasket (I know check before removal  ).
The Landy is at a friends workshop but I need to be driving it by Sunday next week (to get it to the mot).
Current thoughts are to go back next Saturday morning, fit the correct gasket along with a decent sealant (particularly around the sheered bolt).
Then leave to cure until Sunday afternoon. Fill with oil, hope for some luck and drive home, ready for mot.
The bolt is around 2mm inside the casing.
My question, what sealant would you use?
Or would you just try the gasket? Any particular type to go for?
Thanks in advance.
