    Check Auto Box Oil (TD5)

Morning all, During a very long, very steep, very laiden ascent last week my auto box temp warning came on. First time ever, but I'm not surprised to be honest, it was one hell of a hill. I let it cool down and it came on occasionally for about half an hour later but then went off properly...

    air suspension

Mine does this very occasionally if I leave the car for over a week and it's got a load in. If you look at the schematics for the system you can see that both bags eventually come to the same supply from the compressor and there are sprung non-return valves involved. I cam to the same conclusion...

    air suspension

You need to have the engine running, all doors shut and hold the button for about three seconds. You will hear it chime, but then you will notice the appropriate dashboard light flash continuously for about 10 secs whilst it raises. Once raised, the light will stay lit. To deflate, simply press...

Hidden Hints 'n' Tips - TD5 Discovery II

I was looking at some other Discovery 3 forums and noticed a lot of hints - things that you might know if you read the manual in depth, but that you might not know straight off. For example, that the cruise control buttons adjust the HDC speed. I was wondering - anyone know of any...

    Front Diff Pinion Oil Seal

Is it really that easy for a 'novice'? Haynes manual looks a bit tricky, but what you describe doesn't sound too bad? Would I need ramps or 4 axle stands?

    Front Diff Pinion Oil Seal

How much do you guys reckon this will cost me to get replaced at a local independant LR garage? Thought I'd clouted the diff itself as there was some oil (not a lot) appearing to diff from the bottom of the casing. Closer inspection shows it's leaking from the pinion oil seal :(

TD5 EGR Blanking Plate Fitting - My Tips

Well, finally did it last night. Hard to tell much difference but then I've only popped to Tescos so far. Got a good run coming up on Thursday so will repot more back then. I'm not the most mechanically minded person but I'm not totally stupid and I found it reasonbly easy. I hope these aren't...

    axle axle axle

Just reading thru this post (and chuckling a bit) I plan to do this to mine this weekend. Just awaiting a haynes manual (TD5 book now out!) to explain how to drain the diff and refill it. I've obviously knocked my diff at some stage because it's now 'weeping' a bit of oil at the bottom where...

    Decline In Performance

When turning the ignition one click, I can hear my feul pump priming when sat in the car with the window closed.. and the filter was only changed a few months back... worried now! :o I'm wondering if there is air in the system, whether it will purge itself after a few weeks.. Maybe the guy...

    Vertical Take Off Mode

Well, this morning, it's turned into a flutter rather than a hum! So hopefully you're right, and whatever it is has decided to work its way out... I'm just worried about the girl I give a lift to work having a fit if a dead mouse flies out of the vent at high speed whilst I'm trying to blow it...

    Colway A/T tyres

Bought 5 of these myself in Feb - all I can say is they are amazing for the money. Actually quieter on road that the original fitted road tyres! (michellin I think?) amazing for such an agressive tread. They look cool and are CHEAP. Would recommend personally.
