I've heard rumors that the safari snorkel get's in the way fo the door mirrors resulting in a dented snorkel. Is this true ?

you wont dent it if its plastic :) ive had no trouble with the mantec snorkel. no experience of the safari but i wouldnt have thought they would connect, unless you are missing the door check strap which would allow the door to arc more and contact.

I have the "new plastic jobby" snorkel from mantec, i tested it and found it doesnt seal properly, still in talks with them as they disagree.
Silly me i suppose, if you throw a bucket of water over the side of the car it shouldn't fill the air tube, and shine a torch along the side you shouldnt see light come through the other side.......rant over.

I have put a safari on my 200tdi, the instructions are a little poor but no problems with the door mirrors and looks the dogs B*****s

I have a bearmach snorkel on my 300tdi. If I have my mirrors right out for when I am towing my caravan my mirror does contact with the flexi pipe on the snorkel. It has not caused me any problems though.

On my td5 90 the safari snorkle fits around the mirror when the door is opened ( it has a preformed dent in it). When fitting , instructions says you have to move the aerial but I just altered the bottom mount to change angle slightly.

The Safari snorkel on my TD5 has a preformed dent in it to allow the mirror to swing round when the door opens. It will connect if the mirror arm is set in the forward position but not if it is in the rear position.

Even so it won't dent as it's plastic. If you push the mirror arm against the snorkel with the arm in the forward position it just pops into the rearward one. Wouldn't want to do it too often though.

I wanted a slightly bigger field of vision in the mirror so fitted larger heads. Still no problem.

thanks for all your help. i've seen alot of safari's with a dent i didn't know is was meant to be there.

only problem i had with safari was laning the top kept getting hung up on branches and had to go round most of the time without the top on

now have a mushroom top one and all was good till closer inspection while i was doing chassis change and the flexi tube has loadsa mini bullet holes in so now thinkin off with new on with old and back to safari

also helps having the bush cables on alows alot just to be pushed over

Safari's look great and work really well, problem is everywhere I go for a roll cage fixing (TD5 90) say its got to come off and a different make fitted. Its delaying me getting a cage as I love the look of the ram air safari.
