Hi, our 2008 TDV8 has a transit button under the dash. Can the car be driven using this button (ignition switch has failed) as we need to get it to the local garage or is this button only for loading purposes? Regards

Never heard of it before “transport mode” yes but never a button. Got pics?

Why do you suspect ignition switch failure?

J

Thank you, sorry no pic as the car is not with me at the moment but I've googled it and it's common (transit switch, transport switch), I just can't see if the car can be driven using it.

I don't think the button does that, apparently it bypasses the ignition allowing it to start and be moved, I've read they should have been removed but many still have them in place.

I've no real idea but i bet this doesn't actually do much once the car is out of delivery mode.
I expect this is nothing to do with setting transport height which locks the suspension as stated above
If it bypasses the ignition switch them you just have to hope theives don't know about it

Transportation Mode : To enable the vehicle to be delivered safely from the factory to the dealership, the air suspension system is set in
transportation mode. When the engine is running, the ride height will be set at 'Transportation High', which is 20 mm
below standard ride height. All four LED's will remain illuminated.

When the engine is not running, the air suspension ECU will drop the ride height by 50 mm (Transportation Low). All
four LED's will flash.

When the ride height is at 'Transportation Low' the vehicle can be lashed to a transporter, without the risk of loosening
due to the suspension ride height lowering.

*Edit* just to say you can't start the vehicle with this button.

Ignition bypass? That would be a thief's delight and I am sure that the car would not have a certificate of conformity if that were the function of the button.

Hi, I know it's a strange one but when I google L322 switch under dash it comes with lots of people asking what it is, sounds like they should have been removed at the dealers when delivered but many were left in. Thanks
