Hi Guys just got my hand on another series-3 and I've got a bit of a strange 4x4 problem, I seem to be permanently in 4 wheel drive, now when I push the yellow knob down and then try to take it out of 4x4 by pulling the red lever back then forward the yellow knob pops up and then when I push the red leaver forward it pops back down again, it like it's the wrong way around I'll try and get a video but it's difficult to do, just can't get it into two wheel drive, also if I lift the yellow knob up it won't let the red knob move at all and if I have it in low box and push the yellow knob down the red lever pops forward into 2 wheel drive but I'm still in 4 wheel drive, anyone got any ideas?

if you undo yellow knob lever pivot bolt lever will pull away then just undo the 3 tin cover bolts the outer will be more likely siezed
Thanks James your defiantly right about the shaft being seized ive taken the cover off and it doesn't appear the shafts are seized behind the tin plate it seems to be in the transfer box its self, could it be something isnt aligned properly inside? and could i get to this without taking the whole box out? Thanks James

when youmove red lever does outer selector move or the thinner center one

when youmove red lever does outer selector move or the thinner center one
the thin centre one moves but the outer one needs tapped with a rubber mallet to put it into 2 wheel drive, its now stuck in 2 wheel drive, when it was stuck in 4x4 i couldn't move the red lever it was seized solid but if i pushed the yellow knob down the red lever will move forward freely but it wont disengage 4x4

lube the outer rod and work it

When you go into low range its a positive force, when you go into high range and press the yellow know its spring force stored from when you moved it to low. If its stiff it doesn't spring back
