Bought a Discovery 2 last Thursday (my 3rd D2), drove it 60 miles home ok. Yesterday went 1 mile down the road to the local shop, parked it, locked it. Come out of the shop and pressed the remote........ nothing.

After half hour of disconnecting the main battery and reconnecting it still nothing, though I could open and lock it manually with the key. The main problem was the noise so once the horns were unplugged at least peace was resumed.

I have RAC membership with my insurance (NFU), so called out the RAC who arrived within 20 minutes. The key was tested and found to be A1 and so was the vehicle battery, after a lot of faffing about pulling various fuses the alarm decided to respond to the remote and I was able to get home.

Today I have a dead Disco, I'm guessing it's the alarm remote receiver so ordered one up and should be here by Thursday

I know this is an old post but...
Mine is now doing the same thing. BUT, when i put the key into the ignition and turn it the lights come on and the noise stops. Did you try that on yours? My fob works if i hold it right next to the D pillar and point it in it's direction. Just in case it doesn't work i've pulled the wires on both horns. I doubt some angrilly flashing indicators will wake the neighbours at 5am in the morning...
