Hi everyone and a Merry Christmas to you all.

I have a series 3 88 and need to get more leg room, I am 6.2.

Question is, do the Defender seat risers on Ebay fit a series or do I go for a different seat completely.

There seem to be differernt types, rails of studs/blocks. I think the issue is eyeline through the windscreen. You can go up but at 6'2" you will soon only see the bonnet! I'm just under 6' and can't see most traffic lights without looking out the side window.
 
At 6"5 i prefer the soft top one..

wouldn't want to tip it over though! :confused::D

I fit OK in a series.

A bit of yoga is required.

A friend of mine with a 109 IIA re-drilled and moved the entire seat back..

He's 6"3.

It did help.
 
When I first got mine, I found it very cramped. The seat seemed too high and too close to the wheel, also I kept banging my right arm on the door and window. I looked at modifying the seat base or swapping the seats but I spent that long thinking about it that I just got used to it and now don't mind it at all.

I think this is the key. Just drive it enough that it becomes normal and you get used to it. I have now gone one step further than this after having a defender as a daily drive for 10 years whereby now, when I drive other vehicle, I cannot stand the laying down driving position and it just feels wrong. I adjust the seat to be as near to the defender driving position as I can, Bolt upright, square, and high off the floor. The next person to get into the car has no end of complaints but it is comfortable for me because it as close to what i am used to as possible.
 
Depends how much you want to drive it.
I have few issues once in. It’s a bit like putting a waistcoat on.
I’m 6’4” and around 19 stone.
I also have after market seats that take up more room than standard.
 
Maurice Wilks must have been vertically challenged then, otherwise he would have built a sensible vehicle that could be driven without having the window open to shove your elbow out, and if he'd have been more amply proportioned when the seats were done then he'd have taken into account the average paunch..
 
Thanks for your replies, my main concern is getting my foot on the clutch quick enough i an emergency, not that its going that quick and the steering is pretty controlable.
I am sure I have read somwhere that the pedals adjust, or did I dream it.........
 
Id be happy if the hand brake didnt keep sticking through my welly strap, stopping me pressing the clutch at all. :(

Luckily it pops out of gear easily without the clutch. :oops:

Most of us use the chucking out a concrete block and chain method of emergency braking. Makes a mess I agree,:confused: but think of the little kitten on the motorway:rolleyes: and the doe-eyed child looking upon from the car in front who chucked it out the window:). Break your heart. I found the driving position a bit cramped at first and was looking to get the seat back as far as possible (its a LWB) but now I sit in an upright postion rather like a dinning chair and Its comfortable. I also drive a Merc 500SL (the R129) which has amazing seats and a "relaxed" driving postion, but I'm now finding I get out the Series with less back ache than the Merc (OK deaf and grubby) which has really surpised me.

Not just the series.

The RRC and basically any LR product isn't really built for a man over 6ft.

Rather odd.
