L322 Battery recommendations

No worries about changing a battery, I was just concerned that it's a heavy brute and not much room but with the bonnet right up should be fine.

Just prep it all, in one swift move put it in, helps if it has handles, if it has use them, if you lower the RR right down that helps too, if you have a crate to stand on that helps more

It helps if you remove the positive jump start post as well, bit more to take off but worth it I thought when I changed mine and yes lower the car and bonnet in service position plus a helper to take the old one off you and pass the new.

Now I know I can get the bonnet vertical I'll be using the forklift to hoist it out!

Reviving this thread - I fit a 020 (cutting off the edges to make it fit) and have been chasing a battery drain. The battery is a super tight fit and the positive block is wedged on the side between the battery and body. Could this be causing it? I noticed that the block has some small exposed areas that could be grounding to the body?

If you are talking about the Bosch there is no need to cut anything to get it to fit. It is a tight fit, with approx 2mm between it and body, but it fits.
Oh and when barging into a room and asking strangers for free help try this

I would think its unlikely to be your drain. But anything is possible.
When I fitted my bigger battery I couldn't get the block in so changed the block so it was horizontal.

+1i don't think it would drain,it would be a direct short with severe consequences.

Great thanks for the reply. In that case I’ll discount that. How did you change it to horizontal? Did you fit a new in line fuse?

Wow. A shill on the forum. Unbelievable. I’ve been using this forum for over 6 years. Members post here asking for help from strangers because they can’t find the information elsewhere and the forums are filled with first hand experience. And yes you do have to cut the lips off if you have a mega fuse on one side adding another 5cm to the width, which was the while subject of the question.

THANKYOU for your useless reply. And a real thankyou to those who actually reply with something helpful. It’s valued a lot by enthusiasts like myself who aren’t pro mechanics and would like to keep the FF running.

I “joined” in 2020 in order to post and HELP OTHER PEOPLE” but I’ve been using the forum since I bought the car years ago. The post posted twice and I’ve been a member for over 10 years on other forums.

I’ve Lack of manners?? How did my original post have a lack of manners?? I, along with members across many forums, thank other members for the advice as they receive it. Can’t remember exactly, but it was with all the same bits that were there. Think I had a bit leftover.

Ah brilliant. Thanks for that - I’ll take a look and see if I can adapt it. At the very least it’ll eliminate another thing on the journey to a parasitically drain free FF. Many thanks.
