Morning all,
A quick one for you;
I’ve tecently bought an 07 vogue.
The dvd comes up as mechanical error.
I’ve looked I the back and found someone has disconnect the fibre optic connector that goes into the Nokia branded box at the top.
They have then removed the two cables and and put it so the two cables point at each other, presumable bypassing the Nokia box?
The DVD player powers up and the cartridge goes in and out fine.
If I put the two cables into the connector properly and reconnect it to the Nokia box, will this maybe fix the issue?
There is no phone in the car though.
Thanks,
Andy.

I don’t know.

But it’s worth having everything connected correctly as it’s all interconnected.

Do you have a manual?

J

Nokia box is the Bluetooth module which explains why no phone on car

can you select DVD from the front touchscreen? Have you put a Region 2 disc in and see what happens?

Evening all,
The car has the original phone dock in the car for what would have come with it originally. I have no Bluetooth option anywhere, when you press the phone option on the touch screen it just says unavailable (or similar). I’ve filled the dvd multi changer and it gives the same mechanical fault message.
I plugged the Nokia box in and it wouldn’t work, I also lost the radio, Nav and TV when I tried that. Does it mean the Nokia box is knackered? Any idea why the phone being disconnected from the system would stop the DVD player from working but the tv does work?
Cheers,
Andy.

I'd guess the DVD and Nokia module have got wet due to the usual water leak in the rear quarter. As you say looping the fibres will bypass the faulty unit.
I had a slight leak earlier in the week which got on back of the sat nav unit which stopped loads of things from working i.e. all buttons on and around the head unit so I couldn't change stations, load sat nav, 4x4 info etc, it was playing the 1st preset station but showing the 7th, the only thing I could use was the volume up and down on the steering wheel. I was lucky in that a quick wipe and carefully placed plastic bag seems to have fixed it, at least for now anyways. If you're lucky you may be able to take them apart and clean all the connections, otherwise start saving up for replacements.
