Bodywork on both is very good-especially the Senator-I think it was given extra treatment from new-the doors have a few scabs-but I have a full good set of doors in the same colour.

The 3.0 are not so bullet proof as people think.

I thought they were when I first had the Royale-the Royales engine, originally a 2.8 carb with 3 speed auto-had been replaced with a later 3.0 injected one and a 4 speed auto from a later Monza. Goes like the clappers-I think the rear diff is set up for the three speed and a little lower.

Bought the Senator 2 years ago with a misfire-thought it was plugs/injector-but turned out to be a worn camshaft. One lobe had gone.

The engine had only done 61000miles. Apparently after doing a bit of research-the cams on these early ones were a bit soft. Good cam and new hydraulic tappets and it's been very good ever since.

The motorhome was an 8 year old Auto Sleeper which when new was nearly £60000.

Disgusting workmanship from an erstwhile reputable manuf. With today's sealant technology there's no excuse for water ingress on that scale, I hope you didn't lose too money much on the deal.
 
Lost just over £2000 with insurance, bits and pieces etc. But it could have been a lot, lot worse.

Back to a caravan pulled by the Rangey-cannot wait.

Definitely.
I've been very, very lucky. I bought a good one. I've had it 13 years-its broken down twice due to the bloody door locks-once under the carport and once I had to be recovered-so in 13 years not too bad. The battery needs replacing as it is at least 14 years old. It's had tyres, 4 new air bags (may be due for renewal now!), compressor and a few exhausts.The aircon stopped a few years ago-the bonnet insulation wore through a pipe, the sunroof last year. But overall quite good.

I like old cars-parts for these are cheap-and the info on this forum has always been superb!

A stainless exhaust seems like a good investment to me, 8 years and it still looks good.
