Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, and am after some advice if possible.

I have a 2004 Freelander.
I only just got it (pretty sure the owner saw a sucker in me).

Anyway,
It starts (a tiny bit sluggish), then goes okay until the engine gets a bit warm. It will then really start to sputter and stall. Continuously. No stalling when cool though .
I have absolutely no idea what im doing, and rely on the help of my brother. He says it is leaking from the injector fuel line at only one injector.
Does anyone have any idea as to if this is the issue or would something else be wrong ?

Please be nice, I'm a girl and have no idea about any of this

Some pictures of the leak would help. ;)

It could be something simple, like corrosion on the fuel rail pressure sensor, which is pretty common.

Although that could have been sorted by now, with an overlay harness to the sensor.

Needs a local to perhaps take a look. Might be hard given the location.
Perhaps point her/her-brother to some health-check links in the FL section?
@Hippo any advice for this lady?

A diesel leak on the injector would suggest the seal needs replaced or is damaged or needs checked at least.

I assume it has a manual gearbox?

When you say it's sluggish what do you mean? Lacks power in general or won't go above say 2000 revs or dies in 4th gear so you have to drop to 3rd to keep going...

Any warning lights on the dash display?

Hi and Welcome to Looneyzoo.
Most of us on here are Gender Fluid now due to oil and fuel ingraining. Has your brother taken the cover off the td4 engine and seen diesel weeping from the injector. Could you smell the diesel.
Yes we can smell diesel. It looks like it comes from the number 4 injector fuel pipe

It's automatic

It sounds like the revs die just slightly, and that's only when idle. Lasts a few seconds Then it goes away until the car has gotten a bit warm, then the light comes on, and the car gets worse and then dies.

Yes, the check engine light comes on, but only after the car is warm.

In the picture, that's where we are seeing that it leaks. Would this be causing it to stall after it gets warm ?

Also, with doing some reading on here (really great site by the way).. I have noticed that my car doesn't have a turbo air filter. I've read that the solenoid could be wrong (look at me being all very technical haha) so with some research, the one on my car only has 2 hoses running from it, but the one on google looks like it's supposed to have 3. Would this also be an issue ?

When the MAF sensor is disconnected, the car runs great.

So confusing ..

Hi & welcome.
Try and get your brother to remove the manifold not hard job to do, then tighten up the fuel rail nuts, at the same time as it had a service air filter PCV filter etc if the car runs better with the MAF disconnected then that is your sluggish problem but that is usually only when the car is being driven.
