Greetings,
Defender 110 with td5/rover axles, all round disc brakes.
When I brake, even ever so slightly, I hear a loud, distinct "clack" or some would describe it as a click.
Happens 90% of the time and has gotten worse over the last 3 weeks. Almost sounds like the pad is struck as it travels to engage the disc. Seems to be originating from the front driverside. Pads still have a fair amount of life to them and the anti-rattle pins with springs are relatively new. What do you think can cause this noise?

Ive had this before and it was the pads a little slack in the callipers, I replaced the anti rattle pin and spring set up with the earlier set up of a bent bit of tin and a split pin as it holds the pads firmly in.

Of course you could have a pad thats losing its friction material or loose mounting bolts etc.

I was looking for one of these sets earlier and had some difficulty finding the part # that would fit my caliper.

Jack it up someone on the brake pedal and work wheel until you hear noise and see where it is coming from. Won't be long before pad play will be taken up with rust if that is the problem.
