Mid way through replacing the bulkhead, and while the windscreen has been out, water has got into the turret of the difflock gear. You can only see a little water in the photo as I've tried to soak it up.

If I unbolt the turret (4 bolts?), dry it and cover it up again, should I be ok? Or is there a path for the water to get down into the box.
If yes, then if I drain the oil, let it dry out, should that be ok?
Or is there gearings / bearings etc that could have been damaged?

Yes just unbolt clean out and put back, there is a gasket. How long has it been sat ? Water could find its way under the main gear lever as well.

Unbolt it, turn it upside down to get the water out, cover it liberally in grease and refit.
