Just wondering what folks ideas are on side exit exhaust, I have been looking for pics for ideas but cannot find any even on a Google search

Custom car magazine from the 1970 can’t say I ever seen a Land Rover or Range Rover
Have seen them coming out of the bonnet at Santa pod oooo yhaa

Is that not a standard Series pipe route? what I am thinking is a pipe coming out either behind the front wheel or just Infront of the rear wheel, probably a dumb idea but just wanted to know if it had been done

Am I allowed to ask why? You can get "custom" off the shelf high exit side exhausts which come out half way up the rear tub behind the rear wheel (link) but for what you are thinking I would have thought it will be a custom build.

Just that I have bent, crushed or snapped so many rear pipes on various landy's, plus it would be different, I was thinking about the one in your link but connected to the front pipe coming out behind the passenger door, I just want to see if anyone has done similar before I start cutting holes

Mine's short but sweet .. ;)

I just chopped it up and welded where it needed putting back together. All the bends in it are mostly from parts of the rest of the original system. It's straight through but doesn't seem too loud .. even silenced it's more the pitch that you hear and that stays about the same, rather than the volume. When I first did it I didn't have the flexible part in and it all vibrated horribly. Since I put the flexy in, it just works .. :)

I chop off the last 4 inches of the tail pipe so it does not stick out past the wheel.

Hows this for a daft idea ? Weld an elbow on the inside of the chassis outrigger tube and divert the exhaust through it to the side.;):rolleyes:

the only issue i have had with my standard position exhaust at the back has been in deep mud, and reversing backwards when stuck. Never blocked it completely but twice the tailpipe has been half blocked. I cant be faffed to change it from stock.
I persoanlly think side exit looks weird.

I have a side exit on my 90 & its dam loud but everyone seams to like it plus I don't
get any black soot on mine...……….

This is kind of how I was thinking Paul, do you get any blowback when at traffic lights?
