WARNING LIGHT HELP NEEDED PLEASE

I have to employ people to do most things due to my disability
Luckily my mates land is training to be a mechanic so he does the smaller jobs for me as he's trying to earn money for tools etc
It's good you have someone who can and will work on it if you can't, the small comunity I live in has two mechanical workshops and neither of them will touch Landrovers, this is Toyota country, they treat Landys like "spawn of the devil".
We have a small handful of Landy guys that help each other out with whatever skills they have and keep our green oval relics running.

Thanks

Is it worth buying a proper copy of the owners manual off eBay do you think?
To be honest, I don't think it's worth getting a hard copy, the RAVE download will probably give you everything you need and then some. And it's at the best possible price .... free!
On the subject of the illumination of your heater controls, there are some posts here on the forum if you search for them and you'll also find some stuff on the net about replacing the little bulbs.

Cheers.

I've replaced the bulb in the heater controls. I'm presuming there's only the 1 bulb as couldn't see a space / bulb holder for any more

Whilst we're on the subject of lights etc, does anyone have problems with heater controls being dim?
My knobs don't illuminate and neither do the red and blue markings. The only bit that lights up are the bits that tell you where the blower is set (windscreen, feet etc)
Even the fan speed numbers don't light up.
There maybe will be some blown small bulbs in that area, but how to access I can't tell you, arecall the fuses for illumination ok? If your digi clock illumination is out, I have replaced the mini type bulb in it, a bit tricky to get the clock out of it's spot but once you've seen it done its reasonably easy, my mate used an old credit card slid in over the top of the clock to release the "sprag" that holds it in, it had me baffled how to get it out but he'd done the same job on his D1 prior, nice to have the daytime clock display back after all the years without.

I've replaced the clock bulb and the automatic gear selector ones too
Everything lights up fine apart from the heater controls

Lovely looking unit, well worth spending time on to "tweak" to perfection. Mine's the old warhorse in my avatar stuck in a creek crossing, a darker blue and a lot more "used" looking, I put a winch on after that trip.
There is still a lot of nice old D1's about, I was looking at another LR forum over here the other day and some of the pictures of members vehicles showed some very immaculate ones, well cared for like yours, they still bring good money here, last of the really uncomplicated 4x4's.
Unfortunately now there is a push/move to ban all vehicles over 15 years old off the roads. There will still be provisions for "special interest vehicles", historic, vintage etc with associated use restrictions, but for regular registered vehicles for everyday use after 15 years old, no registration. We are still waiting for the final decision, but the "flags have been put up" and usually that means two years down the track the things they put up are bought into force.
I probably will have handed my licence back by then so our old Disco will not be required any longer.

I'm hoping it doesn't come to that but if it does then I'll not be driving as can't afford insurance unless it's on a classic policy

My discovery isn't as tidy as the pictures make it look.
It's been badly painted but it's straight and as far as I'm aware it's rust free so I'm happy with it which is all that matters.

Not as many rust problems here but there are some D1's that are slowly disentegrating, mine was solid and the rust had not got a hold. Interior looked like a pack of hounds had been living in it, hood lining down carpet filthy but all fixable to an extent. Only needed a clutch, (the classic release arm fulcrum perforation failure), but I did the lot, now after 8 years of ownership, apart from the tinkering, (waterpump, timing belt), it has been reasonably reliable and it's had some hard use.
It'll do until the axe falls, on it or me, whichever comes first.

My interior isn't far off yours but it's comfortable and does the job I bought it for

It's mainly used for transporting students and video / photography equipment around as my daughter's studying video and film production at uni and is a photographer
It's been to all sorts of strange locations in the 3 months I've owned it
