somebody please just make me feel better and tell me that the manifold not being hard down is likley to be the cause of the black smoke???? it will cheer me up

Remove the manifold again and check the thread as not be stripped or cross threaded, if you get stuck finding the nuts I have a few you can have, in the meantime once you have checked the studs thread and nuts thread, also check the rubber seals are all intact, refit the manifold but this time add some plumbers ptfe tape and see if this helps locking the manifold fully down Arctic.

PS clean out the manifold, first remove the MAP sensor also cleanout the EGR if you do not have a bypass one.

I have some m7s on the way so I will get it down tight, there is loads of thread on the studs and I cant see how i have stripped all 3!

I have a feeling that having the manifold down tight enough that the car wont run with the intake blocked might just solve the problem

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssssssssssssss solved it, the manifold was so loose it was letting air in and out at will, four M7 nuts and a cpl of bolts and the truck is back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great news, nice also that you have let us know you solved it, so many times members do not report back if they solved the problem and how Merry Christmas

poly ones from bell engineering, £60 I believe for all 3 in the aluminium housing.

Wow expensive check links below, these are so easy to fit my granddaughter could fit them into the original aluminium housing.

Using the poly ones should last the car out link below
