engine stalling when put in reverse gear

Hi,

I got a 1995 P38 4.6 HSE with LPG, 1 out of 5 times when I park up and put it into reverse gear the engine stall. I can put it into park and start engine then select reverse and 10 out of 10 times it have no problem?

What could it be?

I've got this problem in drive and reverse, could it be dirty gearbox oil? Have u tried changing the oil and filter? I no my box is buggerd but yours could be this simple. Cheapest way and a good place to start.

Could be a sticky valve block, with one of the forward drive clutches not backing off quickly enough. Your ability to start in park then select reverse and have no problem would seem to bare that theory out.
