Hi Please help me to help my Brother in law, He is having some problems with his P38 firstly he was having issue’s with the engine over heating and pressurising which i think we have now sorted this was a bad air lock 2 hour to sort. Now he has a issue with his locks the drivers door is locked and this can’t be opened from inside or with the key. And the other 3 doors lock as soon as you shut them. If you unlock them they lock again within a couple of seconds but i have held up the knob and this seems to stop them from locking i don’t know if that’s down to a very sensitive catch which needs to be adjusted. This has all happened while the car has been parked up for the last few weeks while somebody has been stripping down his engine could this be the dreaded burnt out door lock in the supper lock state????? If so what can we do?????

Mine had exactly the same symptoms a month ago.
Broken door latch blocked in lock position.
I ordered a new latch from Island 4x4. I also ordered the latch cable to be on the safe side.
New latch mounted. Problem gone.
Hell of a job.
If you want to go DIY have a look here:

Door Lock Failure: Getting the Door Open (4.0/4.6/p38A)

My mechanic charged me with 4 hours labor for that (I think it really took him 4 hours so nothing to say). He couldn’t open the door as described on rangerovers.net. He had to disassemble the rear door to get to the latch.
Stay away from mechanics telling you they have to break the door, windows or something else.
Good luck.

Looks like the latch has superlocked. New latch around £130.
Total time to do...around hour and a half.
Details on Range Rovers on how to remove the Superlocked latch. Not as drastic as it seems, plus the car does not suffer any cosmetic damage from hacksaw blades etc.

I have replied to a post on door latch removal method during the past week or so..have a look for it, you may find it helpful.
