  • Thanks Mark hopefully i will get to have a play over the week end i will put the fist Dizzy cap back on and try that, i have just brought a new fuel pump as i know it works but i have heard that in the past that they may not be sending the right amount of fuel i will let you know how i get on Thanks again
It's a different engine to mine as mine is EFi not carb.. but I think it sounds like a fueling problem.. having said that the difference in sypmtoms (as I learnt while getting mine to start) is very small..

have you got new leads on? there could be tracking on the leads which would cause a misfire which might be enough to stall the engine.. this can also happen if you don't have the leads following the right path (something like 5 and 7 mustn't touch or along those lines).. also have I'm sure you have but worth checking you have your lefts and rights the right way round.. others have made that mistake..

the other possibility is that the new dizzy you have is no good.. but my first instinct is fuel.. and unfortunately I know next to nothing about the carbs on these beasts.. almost sounds like the warm tickover is set too low.. but I'm sure you have checked that as well..

If I think of anything else as I'm working on mine I'll let you know..
I can onkly go by what happened to me.. I had changed the heads and the car wouldn't start.. proved there was fuel and proved there was spark but I was getting earthing through the rotor arm (easy test for this in the RAVE but be careful you can get a shock) changed the rotor arm and some improvement but not right so took the dizzy apart and it was full of crud which seems to have got in there either while I was laning or while I was doing the heads (the engine was very muddy as the HGF happened while laning)... I took the dizzy out and cleaned it up thoroughly and managed to get it started.. it still isn't right..

If you tell me what you have done so far I can see what I can suggest based on my recent experience...

    Mark
