Hi all, just wondering if somebody could shed some light on a minor HVAC problem I have...

It seems that if the temp is set to anything other than LO on the driver's side, the air is roasting hot, even if ambient is well above the temp setting. Move it back to LO and it goes cool again (not cold as a/c not fixed yet...)

My guess would be the temp sensor is dead or dying - anybody had this problem? I presume it is not the usual blend motor problem, as it will switch from hot to cold OK, it just won't maintain the preset temperature

No book symbol on the HVAC display

Thoughts?

Cheers

Check the little grill above the radio by the clock, with the ignition on you should be able to hear a little fan running, this is the cabin temperature sensor. They get bunged up with fluff I clear mine carefully with a vacuum cleaner but you could try an air line.

Hi Datatek, thanks for the tip - grill is clear and I can hear the fan running.

Surely there must be at least two cabin temp sensors - one for driver one for passenger??

Cheers

No just the one. There is also a solar gain sensor centre of dash right by the screen and a matrix temperature sensor. You need to get it on diagnostics:)
