new range rover alternator fault

Hello,
I just bought a 1997 Range Rover se 4.0 on eBay. It was delivered yesterday and I took my wife out to eat for our anniversary. We where almost to the restaurant when it died the alternator fat light came on and I could not get it started last night so I was forces to leave it at a store. I was wondering if I could take the battery out of my 2004 tahoe z71 put in the range rover to get it home 5miles at the most. Any help will be greatly appreciated since I have only had it for 2 days.

Look at the crock of **** thread in general section.

it sounds like alternator is ****ed

Is there any reason I could not put another battery in from my tahoe to get it home

will the battery fit and are the poles the right way round?
do you have the eka code that should have come with the car so you can put the code in via the door locks?

if yes to both then go for it, or do you not have breakdown/recovery services on your side of the pond? if you do then sign up for it
