Hi, Does anyone know how to remove the factory fit R770 head unit from my 2000 Freelander? I need to get to the back of it to connect a CD stacker connecting cable I have bought.

not sure what model it is has it got 2 holes on each end of fascia or has it 1 hole on each end,if its 2 its a u shaped wire tool if its 1 hole its a 2.5 mm allen key sorry no good with model nos only what it looks like hope this helps

you can either use proper radio prongs which push into the 2 holes either side and pull the radio out or if you haven't got any of these then you can bend a wire coat hanger so both ends fit into the holes

Good evening

did the above advice prove successful for anyone?

I am trying to remove factory fit radio/cassette player(1 hole either side version), have undone the allen screws as described above, but is there anything else holding it in as it seems reluctant to move

Many Thanks

I have a 56 plate Adventurer fitted with the single CD player, can't see any holes for keys.

I need to pull the unit to find the phone mute, any ideas would be appreciated

there are no keys for this, you need to remove the center console and the radio is screwed in with 4 screws, you'll see them once the console is out

you probably havent undone the allen keys enough, they are a bit fiddly to get out though

On my 2000 Freelander TD4 the two holes are for a 2.5mm allen key, not a coat hanger! It does take a lot of unwinding.

The problem I have is that I want to upgrade the head to a unit I purchased that takes both a SD card and a USB connection for an Ipod. This unit has the standard ISO plug which most head units have now. The Freelander does not seem to have this and I found it impossible to remove the one fitted anyway. I noticed the plug has a slider but this did not release the plug.

Any help appreciated.

definitly allen keys n the modle you have the allen srcew will not come out it just draws back the spreder you need to keep turning until stop then pull out
