    Prop shaft/ transmission brake

Looks like the transfer box is coming out then! It will be my maiden voyage into serious mechanical combat so I'm sure will be eye opening.... I take it I should be able to separate it from the gearbox in-situ and then remove? Or is the gearbox going to have to come out as well? Sorry for the...

    Prop shaft/ transmission brake

Hi guys, as I don't have an oxy torch available I am thinking on using a drill and cold chisel to try and sepertate the components (prob a bit tight for the grinder), can you think of any better alternatives? Bear in mind this is under the landy and attached to the transfer box..... Also I am...

    Prop shaft/ transmission brake

Also just to add as a note of caution to those reading this, the above is only one of a number of problems I have uncovered so far on a vehicle which currently has an MOT, and looked perfectly passable on first inspection

    Prop shaft/ transmission brake

Ah, sounds like fun on the horizon then.....I knew it was going downhill when I realised the state of the UJ I was replacing.... I take it this is the cause of the oil leak from the transmission brake housing? Echoing Land Raver, what would you guys do now, any idea of the parts which have been...

    Prop shaft/ transmission brake

Hi guys, I'm hoping you may be able to offer some insight into a few problems I ran into today when removing the rear prop from my series 3 88 to replace a UJ. Since I bought the vehicle there has Been an oil leak from where the yoke of the prop shaft blots onto the transmission brake, however...

    Fuel sender fun

I earthed the wired and when the ignition was turned there was a strange noise, sounded like the noise when the indicators are on, and the gauge remained unmoved. This seems to point towards the voltage regulator and some kind of a short/ earthing problem. If I order and fit a new voltage...

    Fuel sender fun

I have just had a look at the temp sender, notmquite sure whether it is a series one fitted (I'll try to attach a photog), although the plastic cover over the connection was half melted through.... Perhaps the cause of the fuses blowing???? Cheers, Hamish

    Fuel sender fun

The alternator is an interesting insight, hadn't even considered that as a possible issue. That said I assume the voltage regulator would be the thing to try first, does anyone have a part number/ link for this part? Or is it just a standard item? I'm not sure if it's connected however I have...

    Fuel sender fun

Hi guys, neither the fuel gauge nor the temp gauge on my series 3 88 (1978 I believe) work, however the speedo does; the fuel gauge reads empty even with about 3 in of fuel in the tank and the fuel warning light is on whilst it does this. I removed the fuel sender from the tank (it has 3 brass...
