ello i know this thread is for engines but i couldent find one for gearboxes- but it is atached to the engine! im wondering if anyone knows if a lt77 2wd box ie rover sd1 can be persuaded to fit 4wd? as my v8 has wreaked enother box!-cheers Adrian

found it! it was the in tank fuel pump the live wire came free some how- it looked like it had been taken apart before-badly!, and was cross sparking against the fuel sender hence the ecu problem thanks for all your feedback

sorry! just getting used to this forum thing, i have done a couple freelander rear tailgate regulators and window regulators before your much better of buying complete new unit of ebay the repair kits most of the time dont work as the plastic drive spindle in the moter gets eaten up by the metal...

i dont belive the ecu in the engine bay has a cooling fan didnt see one ill av a look thue, iv heard it maybe one of the fuel pumps overheating and sending a surge to the ecu - i dont like diesels good for water pumps thats about it!! thanks for your info
