freelandeer td4 blowing ecu fuse 'weird'

ello guys im new here but i sopose everyones new at some point!
can i pick youre brains about a freelander td4 on an 02 plate, its my m8s car but recently the f2 fuse for the engine ecu keeps blowing when the engine warms up and and engine cuts out cos the fuse has blown -
had ecu tested by ecutesting but all is fine
iv been working on landies for a good 15 years now and never herd of this before
any iders? cheers Adrian
 
Then it must be a temperature related component that shorts to earth, I would get a wiring diagram and check wiring back to ecu socket for short to earth or loom damage
 
i love ya pic! yeah i thorght its gotta be temperature related but wernt sure, bleddy freelanders have too many electrics!

i dont belive the ecu in the engine bay has a cooling fan didnt see one ill av a look thue,
iv heard it maybe one of the fuel pumps overheating and sending a surge to the ecu -
i dont like diesels good for water pumps thats about it!!

There is an ECU cooling fan. It's in the L shaped ECU box. It draws cool air from the bulkhead via one of convoluted rubber pipes, the warmed air is returned to the bulkhead via the other convoluted pipe. The fan is temperature controlled.
 
found it! it was the in tank fuel pump the live wire came free some how- it looked like it had been taken apart before-badly!, and was cross sparking against the fuel sender hence the ecu problem
