    F*##ing oil.

    Had this problem many times and tried coke, cat litter and all sorts - brick acid poured on oil patches fizzes and after 5 mins swill away! Works a treat!!!

    had a rough running 200 tdi after the timing belt snapped. after fitting new pushrods and belt kit fitted sounded as you described. all i did was re set tappet clearances and then finely advance/retard timing tiny amounts through ip timing cover until it run really nice.

    Hi guys finally got round to doing it, the old adjuster was seized and the nut head rounded off so I couldent adjust it. I took the drum off and the shoes out and in the end had to grind the old adjuster out. I fitted new adjuster gave the backplate and drum a good clean up then fitted new shoes...

    Hi all, my old 90 failed it's mot again (as usual lol) on uneven braking on the rear. I tried adjusting the snail cam is it called? On the back of the drum and it was solid! Iv ordered some new ones and a set of brake shoes and I'm going to tackle it on Saturday ready for the re test on...

    aaaa right cheers, iv been wondering how that worked. Just out of interest, iv not done this iv used a resistor but - what would happen if you didn't use a resistor and just put 12v to it?

    The resistors haven't landed yet but I did make a start with some small resistors from maplins. I started with the exiter wire going to the fuel stop solenoid but when I turned the key off it kept running! so where the eiter wire connects must produce some power too? its now wired to the cig...

    thanks again kwakerman, ill get this temp fix sorted and at least my alternators charging for now. landyzone has been a great help thanks to everyone. ill update when i get to the bottom of the problem.

    I will do if i have to resort to this temporary method. iv been studying mad hat mans wiring diagram what is the part that is no. 63? (ignition light resistor) could this cause a failure in the circuit? cheers!!! Tom.
