I've a One Ten with a Disco 200Tdi motor in it. It's been sitting 6 months after the timing belt slipped and bent 4 pushrods. I've retimed it and changed the pushrods etc. MoT'd it on Wednesday but when it's running pre boost its really noisy. Really clattery/roary but once the turbo spools up it stops that and is fine and generally stays like that once it comes out of the turbo range.

But earlier on it refused to boost on a long straight until I got to 70 mph. Loads of clattery noise, black smoke and no real power then suddenly turbo kicks in Stops smoking and the clattery noise stops and it's running perfect.

Any ideas?

Cheers

had a rough running 200 tdi after the timing belt snapped. after fitting new pushrods and belt kit fitted sounded as you described. all i did was re set tappet clearances and then finely advance/retard timing tiny amounts through ip timing cover until it run really nice.
