TD5 - Turbo Oil Drain Pipe Bolts

Thanks joojar. That topic answers my questions regarding the pipe, but I still can't see any mention of the part number for the bolts.

TD5 - Turbo Oil Drain Pipe Bolts

Does anyone have the part number for the 2 bolts that hold the oil drain pipe to the underside of the turbo? The heads are starting to get a bit rounded on mine, and I'd like to replace them. Also, what is the likelihood of stripping the threads in the block if I replace the whole turbo oil...

TD5 Oil Lake (Not a Spelling Mistake!)

Looks like I bought that fancy torque wrench for nothing!

TD5 Oil Lake (Not a Spelling Mistake!)

Found the culprit! Thanks for all your help. It was a hairline crack in the oil filter housing (LPY100160). Next to the right-hand bolt. Can't think what caused it. I took it off when I was doing the exhaust gasket, and may have damaged it. Cheers.

TD5 Oil Lake (Not a Spelling Mistake!)

Thanks 1988smithy. But would those problems lead to an oil puddle? It's definitely engine oil, I have to top it up quite a bit if the car has been on a run.

TD5 Oil Lake (Not a Spelling Mistake!)

My 2004 TD5 has quite a major oil leak, and it is getting progressively worse. It now leaves a small lake under the car after it is parked. I thought it was the sump gasket, but I have found a pool of oil on the small shelf at the back of the engine. I have attached a picture of the location...

Any Negatives To Blanking/Bypassing EGR On TD5?

I am currently fixing up the (relatively) minor problems on 2004 TD5 Defender. I am keeping the car entirely stock, as I have no interest in extra power or mpg. I am, however, very interested in the reliability and longevity of the engine, and was wondering if there are any negatives to...

    TD5 Exhaust Manifold Problem

Thanks, I've got it now. Are these really recommended over a new manifold? I have removed the previous owner's remap, so it won't be running as hot anymore.

    TD5 Exhaust Manifold Problem

Thanks lynall. Do you mean enlarge the hole to M12 and then fit M10 helicoil? What do you think about Time Serts (solid thread repairers, rather than the spring type)? Is it OK to use an M10 to M8 stepped bolt, or are they frowned upon? Thanks.

    TD5 Exhaust Manifold Problem

Sorry bankz5152, the link does not work for me (maybe because I am not in UK). What product is it linking to? Thanks.

    TD5 Exhaust Manifold Problem

I have a small problem with the exhaust manifold on my TD5 (as do many!). The previous owner ran a remap, which I have since removed, but the manifold has already warped slightly and the gasket has blown on the side closest to the firewall. I am removing the old manifold and will be replacing...

    Transfer Box Drain Plug Question

Where can I find the torque settings for the drain plugs on my R380 gearbox and LT230 transfer box? The workshop manual only has the torques for the bolt and washer type plugs, rather than the 1/2" drive plugs in mine (I think the R380 is actually 3/8").

    R380 Internal Filter Location

Thanks jamesmartin. I'll have a good look at the old oil when I do the change.

    Latest TD5 ECU Firmware

Does anyone know whether the ECU firmware was continually updated over the life of the TD5? I have a stock map file that I will be installing back into my 2004 Defender, but it is from 2002 (It comes from the Nanocom Map Wizard). I was wondering whether there were more recent versions...

    R380 Internal Filter Location

Do you think it's worth doing? And can it be done with the gearbox in situ, or does it have to be removed? The car is 13 years old, but has only done 40,000 miles. I have a feeling the gearbox oil has never been changed.
