I have recently bought a series 3 with a station wagon hard top on it but evidence of having had a tailgate in its life. Is there any way, perhaps from the chassis number, of finding out if it was originally a soft top, pick-up cab or what? Thanks.

If you look on the website 'comcar' which is a well established company car tax calculator site they show the Defender as a commercial as mentioned but also calculate the tax accordingly. It comes out at £1200 p.a. on a 90XS Station Wagon. Is this incorrect then?

Can anyone recommend a 'chip' that works well for the new 2.4 defender engine? Saw an ad for one called chipexpress that suggested improved power and economy - what's the catch (apart from the £399 to buy)?!

Chequer plate on the sill has a simple function - it stops the paint getting worn away by peoples boots catching it as they get in and out! Anyhow, more to the point, do bling-lovers buy Defenders??? I always thought they rolled around in RR sports with 22 inch alloys!

My Defender 90 came with factory chequer plate on the wing tops (silver) and I would like to put the same style on the sills. Land Rover are quoting £280 for supply only which is a lot!! Does anyone know an alternative supplier that will match the pattern?

I have just bought a 2007 90 Defender that has BF Mud terrains fitted. These are too off road orientated for my use which will be 70% road and off road use basically towing a horse box in fields and driving around farm fields. I was thinking about the BF All terrain, is this a good option? ALso...

Don't seem to be any suggestions of value for this winch/bumper unit! Its a 9.5ti with cover and it was over £1k new so I would hazard a guess that it should still be worth in the region of £500 for the complete unit???
