Time Frame to Rebuild LT76 Transfer Box? Series 3

UPDATE: Thanks a million guys, had a good inspection of the high/low selector and discovered it wasn’t going into high box properly, just needs a firm push into high and all sorted. Took the opportunity to change the overdrive and transfer oil anyway. Thanks for the help! Stuart

Time Frame to Rebuild LT76 Transfer Box? Series 3

Thanks for the reply Rob. All of a sudden without doing anything it is working again. Seems to be a lot of play in the rear prop about 1/8th turn. Will post an update if anything changes...

Time Frame to Rebuild LT76 Transfer Box? Series 3

Hi All, My MOT is booked for tomorrow evening, and low and behold I’ve lost drive to the rear wheels this morning. The prop shaft isn’t turning so I know it’s not the rear half shafts. Front wheel drive is working so I’m going to take a guess that it’s the RWD main shaft / or the flange. Can...

Overheating after lots of work done!

So my land rover started overheating a while ago, I replaced the radiator, thermostat, water pump and hoses.. Yet it still overheated. I can run it without the thermostat in and it does not over heat. I just had the head gasket changed there and hoped that would solve it but no. It is still...

    2.25 petrol overheating

Thermostats are opening fully, where would I find or test the voltage reg? It just seems to be showing hot, when I open the rad cap there is steam. The bottom hose also seems empty and cold with the thermostat fitted and is warm with trickels of water when stat out

    2.25 petrol overheating

So I have a 2,25 petrol series 3 and last week it started overheating. I replaced the thermostat but no change, had rad recored again no change, new temperature sender, new pipes but none of this has solved the overheating, when I take out the thermostat the engine runs to cold below the Normal...

    Series 3 rebuild woes!

UPDATE: Got a friend of mine who is a mechanic and once owned a series 3. He had a look at it and concluded (something along these lines*) that there must have been dirt stuck in the outward valve in the fuel lift pump. He disconnected a single pipe, blew into it, put the pipe back on and after...

    Series 3 rebuild woes!

    Series 3 rebuild woes!

So until last week my Land Rover fired up and ran beautifully. However I then ran out of petrol, it is an old petrol tank and suspect rust / dirt being sucked into the fuel lines. Now the engine struggles to start and just keeps turning over. Sometimes after about 5 turns it starts up but will...

Any difference between front brake and rear brake shoes series 3?

Indeed it's only 88" and it has a single brake pipe going into the cylinders

Any difference between front brake and rear brake shoes series 3?

After fitting new brake shoes, spring and cylinders all round. My adjusters are not working. I have got the leading shoes etc the right way round but is there any possibility that I put the front shoes on the back or vise Versa and how can I tell? Thanks in advance

Hi folks, It's coming up to when I turn 17 and I've had a few quotes already (8k) which are extortionate! Wondering if any fellow Northern Irish citizens have been insured on a series 3 at 17 and what it cost you! Thanks in advance! Stu
