    Automatics - rev counter question

The reason i think it's strange is that it's as though it kicks the car into neutral below a certain speed, if you're in a manual in 5th at 50mph with your foot off the accelerator you will still be showing more than tickover revs as a gear is engaged and the engine spinning faster than...

    Automatics - rev counter question

Just been out in it, 70mph 2500rpm take your foot off accelerator and drops to just over 2000rpm at 60mph and then just under 2000rpm as 50mph comes up, if you brake a bit and get to 45rpm it drops to tickover level until you accelerate again seems to drive fine but does not seem right to me...

    Automatics - rev counter question

After the little problem we had with the '03 TD4 auto before xmas i have been noticing stuff i'd never looked at before which leads me to a question for you... when you're cruising in drive at 60mph for example and take your foot off the accelerator what should happen to the rev needle...

Fuel and ignition but still won't start...

Dude, I have skimmed the text above and you have same symptoms I had 2 weeks ago, was down to leaky injector (No.2 i think it was). Had them refurb'd and refitted and runs like a dream again. Could be any number of other things as well but my mechanic was confident after talking to one of his...

    '03 TD4 Injector help please

think the key is that even the tiniest of tiny leaks means unequal pressures across the injectors trips the sensor and won't fire them. I can't claim to understand all this fully but from what i can tell the fuel is leaking from the bit before it goes in

    '03 TD4 Injector help please

defo injector, the pressures in the common rail are up and down which is where the problem is, one injector seeps so pressure drops and injectors refuse to fire as they all have to be same, after a good clean it started a few times but as leak builds up it stops working again. Apparently...

    '03 TD4 Injector help please

It's home! He phoned me this morning, it had randomly started satirday morning so he had the injectors out, no leaks but carbon deposits on 1 meaning stuck open meaning pressure too low so refusing to fire. Cleaned and put back together and it's working, still doesn't sound perfect when starting...

    '03 TD4 Injector help please

fortunately it's not at the dealers, it's with a guy who i've grown to trust (naive maybe!) through looking after our cars over last few years. At £35 per hour he's not over the top, trained at VAG and also BMW so knows his stuff, nice guy and never charges full whack so fingers crossed!
