I changed the lift pump a little while ago, when it's not located on the cam correctly it does that revs a little and thats it! if you have disturbed it might be worth a look.

IRWIN do some bolt remover sockets which have a reverse flute (grip) i have found these great all round a landrover they cost about £25 for a full set but can really help when it all goes wrong with bolts. machinemart sell them!

i think if its not plugged in i won't actuate the EGR valve if i remember it works on the throttle position sensor on yer injector pump (which you can also unplug/ remove) i did the EGR 40,000 miles ago and de catted and de center boxed it a while ago quicker to rev up and holds up hills better now

i had that too the offset means they catch at the top of the arch put it down to knackered springs and soft bumpstops dont use extended ones unless you have a lift else it will reduce your articulation (lift kit next:D)
