So if coding is required either way then I might aswell just get a new CCU and bite the bullet! So back to original question - are CCUs interchangable between models and model years? What are the limitations?

And if I was to change the ECU for a compatible one no coding would be required? I'd happily use a box of matches but then I'd do something silly like buy a disco which would need a bigger can of petrol when it goes wrong...

Does anyone know or know where I can find out which CCUs are compatible with my car? The car is a 1998 Freelander 1.8 XEi. I can get more details if they will help. Any ideas?

Having a very similar issue. It's done it a few times before but always worked. Now I'm thinking I need to replace some bits! I'm guessing CCU (this the box located above the speedo etc with three wires coming out?) and key fobs..... Any advance on that? Also if this stuff is replaced then...

Alright, my gaylander leccy sunroof hasn't worked since I bought it. This doesn't bother me in the slightest as I run the back window down if needed. My one problem is, there seems to be a gap now between the sunroof seal and the roof. Any idea if I can force it closed manually? :confused...

Thanks for that. Mine is on the top but the aerial cable is shorter than I thought it would be. Seems to be better now. Just don't want to be stranded!

Well I took the dash cowel off and had a look. Everything was tight. I took off the connector gave it a wiggle and a bit of a clean then put it back in. No idea if it's fixed but the remote was working ok. Maybe not everytime but most times which is an improvement. I took pics of the...

Just what I was afraid of! Didn't think it would be easy..... it never is! As I say, not sure if it is the receiver but it seemed logical as both remotes are not working.... I'll have a dig and see if it's something simple. Fingers crossed. Thanks for that Dann.
