First thing to check is the cables driving the window. That was my problem to start with and just got worse when I fitted a faulty new rear window mechanism. Ended up costing £900 to find out the new mechanism was indeed faulty!

Try taking off the back panel and greasing the runners, they are notoriously dry. There is a chance that you will snap a cable if it keeps running like that. The calibration sequence is to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and then re connect. The rear window will lower to the bottom...

Easy to replace, it just twists 45 degrees to the right and out it pops, disconnect the multiplug and connect to the new and pop back in the same way, even I did it!!

As a final note to this thread, the suppliers of the defective rear winder mechanism Steve Parker Land Rover in Rochdale took the unit back, tested it and gave a full refund on the cost of it. A good egg is Dave there!!

If it saves someone on here a few quid I'll be happy, I've saved a bundle by taking advice from people like OP on this forum myself before. If everyone puts a little back I'm sure most problems can be sorted without resorting to rip off merchants.

Well, at last its all fixed. It cost £782 including parts but its back on the road at last. Mine is now in an independent garage in Lincolnshire and has been for 3 days, they have not yet found the problem although they can power the rear bits with testbook. I'll let everyone know the outcome once I know.
