Found the problem. The air pipes on top of the chassis leg had been burst by hot gases escaping from a small hole in box that I have been meaning to get repaired:5bblush5:. Fixed the leaks and have arranged with a local guy to have it reset tomorrow.

Hi,

A wee update- had a wee tinker today.
Firstly, fitted a knock sensor and got a bit of an improvement - deffinately a slight improvement in accelaration. The old one was totally open circuit and a bit melted.
Stripped and cleaned rocker breather hoses and althogh a bit of gunge, were clear...

No back fires, just wouldnt pull the skin off a rice pudding, so to speak. Goes a bit better over 3500 rpm.

Ok as mentioned in my intro I have a few issues with my newlly aquired 2001 P38 (4.0 petrol)which I hope you guys may be able to shed a bit of light on for me.
