    TD5 air con compressor pulley

Thank you very much once again Ratty. I have made a desktop shortcut to your ebay item and info and will ring them tomorrow. Must go to bed now as when I took the dogs for a walk across the field earlier, I just happened to have been bitten by a viper. No real damage done as the little fecker...

    TD5 air con compressor pulley

Ok, I'm up to speed with the new mounting bracket, Idler pulley for the aircon and also removal of compressor to refit idler pulley. Can't reconcile the 'fact' that I read (possibly on this forum's archives) that the pulley wheel for the aircon is non replaceable. Riggy.

    TD5 air con compressor pulley

You're a lot quicker in replying than me:D....I have to stop and formulate correctly, a half sensible reply and although admittedly a mechanical numpty, don't want to look like a complete dipstick!!

    TD5 air con compressor pulley

OK...theoretically that should make the air con operable?....but I did read on the net somewhere today that the air con pulley is not dismountable(theoretically\) although I came across an instance of someone who used a three legged puller to force the pulley wheel off to get at the...

    TD5 air con compressor pulley

Thanks for the pointers ratty. It has indeed got ACE, but, being a thicko in the advanced stages (for me...not you)of Disco repair does the idler pulley replace the pulley on the compressor? Your obedient numpty Riggy. p.s. Am now researching ebay for s/h units as well.

    TD5 air con compressor pulley

On the autoroute the other day, the pulley wheel in front of the air con compressor started smoking and screeching. I pulled over immediately and was 'airlifted' off to a garage. Are my worst fears to come true that the new pulley wheel is attached to compressor in one unit:eek: or is there a...

Where can I get one of these...

.....or a pair if necessary, posted to France please? I researched the forum extensively and also printed off the full article re air suspension on TD5 having had a problem with the rear end dipped on one side, even when the ACE is activated fully. However, a new French neighbour/mechanic I met...

    L R access codes.

Hey ooop Biglad, thanks for the advice and just about to order one. I will cancel my appointment with Land Rover Tarbes until I have the tool and done a diagnosis. Yes it would have been cheaper to do the head gasket myself but I don't have the confidence with modern electronically controlled...

    L R access codes.

Hi geggs and thank you kindly for replying. Not quite as easy as just getting someone else to do it tho'. Unfortunately garages with good mechanics are as rare as hens teeth over here, most just want to as my old mate Steve used to say...."fit new and forget".........which can work out ultra...

    L R access codes.

Hi, I have a 2000 TD5 fitted with ACE, SLS and HDC. When it was in the 4x4 place I use (trying to keep away from rip-off main agent) having the head gasket done recently, I noticed from behind that bumper/back end wasn't sitting horizontal. I was so pleased at finally having the head gasket...

    Apologies, condenser cooling fan again

I could be being thick here but first pic is my top hose, the area you said my 'stat housing was/is/should be....only one connector anywhere with a single way connection....so can't swap ANYTHING around. Second image is 'stat down below and between two radiators...impossible to access without...

    Apologies, condenser cooling fan again

Geoff's theory sounds ok but if true locating the connectors is the problem. Thermostat? Just had a new one put in prior to head gasket renewal. Also as soon as I start the engine the fan is on so cold engine and stat hasn't had time to open....or not Riggy.

    Apologies, condenser cooling fan again

Hi Geoff, (and MysteryMan....yes have got all day akshully!:D) my model is a 2000 TD5 and obviously different from yours.........my thermostat is located (from the front end leaning in) offset to the left, between the a/c rad and the cooling rad right down alongside the bottom of the engine...
