    Series 2 Lightweight Gearbox Issues

Absolutely, I really got off lightly there! Have a spare 'box in the garage, so swapped over the reverse gate assy and she was good to go 🍺

    Series 2 Lightweight Gearbox Issues

This was the culprit... reverse gate hinge pin, slipped in the gate assy (pin had worn), allowing the gate to twist when selecting reverse, thus preventing clean gear selection. Thanks everyone again, for the help and support.

    Gearbox cover/tunnel removal?

Got it... BUT it took a fair portion of brute force and ignorance on my part. Basically, splayed out the sides of the tunnel and lifted out at the rear... much scraping, jamming and profanity and she's out. Thanks everyone for the guidance. 👍

    Series 2 Lightweight Gearbox Issues

Thanks everyone, for the guidance. I think I've got to the bottom of it... BUT will keep the lid on my enthusiasm until the necessary part arrives! Fingers-crossed!

    Gearbox cover/tunnel removal?

Thanks tottot... the panel will simply not lift over the gearstick, as it fouls the heater matrix. The vent located on the seat box is easily removed.

    Gearbox cover/tunnel removal?

Series 2 Lightweight... I have gearbox issues (separate topic), but trying to remove the gearbox cover/tunnel in the cab, with much difficulty! Does the heater matrix need to be removed, water pipes disconnected, etc, to enable the cover to be lifted over the gearstick, or is there a method of...

    Series 2 Lightweight Gearbox Issues

Back to Landy ownership after many years away. Driving my '72 Series 2 Lightweight home yesterday (100+ mile motorway journey, at a steady 55), 4th + OD almost all of the way. Pulled in to the motorway services for a comfort break... only to discover that reverse had gone missing! I'm able...

    Wishing to avoid premature deafness!

Thanks guys... I think I'll run with some form of closed-cell foam sourced through eBay and see how things go from there.

    Wishing to avoid premature deafness!

    Thanks guys. Mine's a 90 truck cab.

    Rear output still leaking!

As above, the clanking/clunking issue is commonly linked to worn bushes or bearings (A-frame, radius arms, UJ's). I had a recent issue with pressurised diffs - remedied by fitting new Fr & Rr breathers, but this manifested as leaking EP90 at the wheel hubs... still worth checking yours...

    Wishing to avoid premature deafness!

Sitting there with my 8 year old during a 50 mile motorway trip and struggling to hear a word she uttered, got me thinking that I really should turn my attention to sound deadening my 90! Thing is, I'm fond of both my kidneys and looking at the cost of some of the products out there (Dynamat...

    EP90 Leak from Splined Shaft...?

Once again, thanks for all of this. James - those part references are very helpful... it's difficult at times, having such an early 90, with many parts crossing-over from the SIII. I'll change RTC3511 again, for completeness more than anything else and focus on some decent hub/end caps, in...

    EP90 Leak from Splined Shaft...?

Thanks everyone for the info and suggestions. I'll go with replacing the seal RTC3511 again, along with sourcing some genuine hub/centre caps and a set of f&r axle breathers. Can anyone advise as to which breathers to go with... it's a suffix AA 1985 90? Thanks again.

    EP90 Leak from Splined Shaft...?

Are the centre/hub caps there to provide an oil tight seal? I thought they were more to prevent dust/crud ingress than anything else.

    EP90 Leak from Splined Shaft...?

Can't seem to unearth a definitive answer to this one, so here goes and apologies for the repetition: I have an oil leak (EP90) from the splined shaft (halfshaft), driver side rear of my early 90 (drum braked rear axle). It's definitely EP90 and is definitely leaking from the splined shaft end...
