Just stuck my motor in Aototrader for 3 weeks. Less than 4K for an 04 Cmax 1.6 diesel that does 60mpg. The phone should start ringing this week hopefully. As far as my next motor goes, I reckon a really clean 300TDi ES UK spec on a 98 or Jap import model. I have seen good examples around £2.5K...

When I had one the first things I did were to get rid of the cat pipe and blank the EGR. K&N filter then added a bit more power. relatively cheap mods too.

aw ya beat me to it Hughesy, just trying to be helpful.... If it wont open from the inside either then it might be the spring in the latch mechanism. That will need the door card taking off and the catch dismantling and new spring (ebay £4.50) There is a thread on here about it I'm sure.

common problem. prise out the Land Rover badge with a small screwdriver or stanley knife. Squirt loads of WD40 in. Then push handle down with big screwdriver and operate a few times til its free again. Get used to it it happens a lot.

Not to mention Pete Mate to help us with his unfathomable depth of knowledge.

its good innit, however in the real world we wouldnt be getting a new part just cos the old one looks 'old' would we?

I used him a few months ago, always found him helpful and reasonably priced, I think the number is 01248 450002

No not too familiar, I've been called a lot worse. I am impressed that you are getting mid 30s in an auto TD5, I will probably go for a manual.

Welcome to the madhouse. I expect you will get some flak off some members for admitting having owned a jap 4x4. I had a 300TDi which I sold earlier in the year and bought a boring focus instead. Bow I am looking at either a late 300tdi or a similar TD5 to the one you mention. How are you finding...

Yes and that will make the heater work quicker too........

easy - undo the bolts and take the steering lock off, undo 2 screws that hold the electrical switch on to it. Then use a screwdriver to start!
-
Emailed the bloke and he says its manual. most imports are autos.
-
Hmmmm - not sure I get that one. Although I am partial to a chicken Tarka. You ever tried it?
-
Good advice. Thats what I'm looking for thanks.
Can't help thinking this was a bargain for someone though.
as far as imports go this caught my eye. Its been on there a while, I would imagine if its still for sale theres a deal to be done on that price. All depends on me selling the C Max...

Now I am worried about TD5s. My head says keep the sensible focus my heart says get a disco! I have seen Jap Import 300TDis county spec (same as ES)) for 2.5 - 3K for a clean 96 model. Perhaps that would be the way to go.
I have looked at freelanders and I don't like em. Smaller inside than the...
