Tony here, from Belfast. I am a brand new member and just want to say hello to everyone , I have a discovery 2001 TD5 XS, my last 4x4 was an isuzu trooper 3.2V6 Shorty. ( I await a little flack ).

Cheers , Tony .

Welcome to the madhouse. I expect you will get some flak off some members for admitting having owned a jap 4x4. I had a 300TDi which I sold earlier in the year and bought a boring focus instead. Bow I am looking at either a late 300tdi or a similar TD5 to the one you mention. How are you finding it? (and don't say "I just go outside and there it is" - I do the wisecracks around here :)

welcome i should draw a vail over the trooper and forget you ever had 1 ;) or at least pretend to slag it off a bit;)

Hi Rev ( ihope thts not being to familier) thanks for the warm welcome, to be honest I loved the TROOPAH but admittedly its not a patch on the D2, mines an auto and I love driving it. Its the best vehicle choice I heve ever made it suits our lifestyle perfectly. The ride is great but I cant wait to get the airbags back on. Its very luxurious the 2 previous owners must have loved it as its spotless inside. The mpg compared to the jap 4x4 as you so politely called it is a revelation, I get mid 30`s now so its definately a keeper. Cheers Tony .

No not too familiar, I've been called a lot worse. I am impressed that you are getting mid 30s in an auto TD5, I will probably go for a manual.

I am generaly a relaxed person (read bone idle) I love not having to change gears. I use cruise control and stay just below the 60 mph as much as I can so economy is good I find. I just posted a pic of it. I am just learning to play with the new toys on the forum, like signatures and things.
