How much adjustment should there be as i seem to only have 6-8 mm ?

Evening all , having just removed my egr valve which was supplied by jgs 4x4 (Who i can highly recommend !) sorry , should have said - its a 96 model on an n reg - changed the flexi plate for him just waiting to fill it with oil !!!
